Saturday Morning on the Manukau

Three of us descended on the big muddy (which was actually very clear) as dawn was breaking and were greeted by teeming fish life in the ebbing tide. Mullet from sprats to attractively sized cavorted everywhere! The hope was to encounter some hungry predators such as kahawai or kingfish who could surely not miss such a feast on display …

And the obligatory stingrays were around, sometimes at very close range in knee deep water … no kingfish following here!
